How & When am I Contacted?

When an individual or representative of a company, register an online profile or submit an online request, permission is given to the South African Post Office to send any electronic communication (email or SMS) which are of an operational nature & related to the Virtual Post Office service, to the registered user. All operational communication will be sent via email, unless otherwise requested by an online user. An operational communication is defined as an email which is triggered by or as a result of an action initiated by an online user, which includes but are not limited to:

The online user also accepts that all agreements, notices, disclosures and other communications sent by the South African Post Office satisfies any legal requirements, including but not limited to communication where specific instruction is given to submit communication in writing.

While we acknowledge that both operational & marketing related electronic communication(s) will be sent to registered online users, we endeavour not abuse this privilege and over communicate with users. All online users have the ability to unsubscribe to electronic marketing related communications only.

By submitting a valid cellphone number during the registration of a online profile, the users gives the South African Post Office the permission to also send operational communication via SMS or MMS to the online users cellphone number. All online users may unsubscribe from receiving future SMS notifications, by simply sending a response SMS with the word “STOP”. Alternatively they can de-select the SMS notification option on their online profile.
