Am I eligible for a Free Post Box?
In order to qualify for a free Post Box, then there must be no street delivery in the suburb in which you reside and the Post Box must be located at the nearest collection point/post office to where you live.
What happens when you submit a Dispute online?
If you wish to dispute the payment of the Post Box renewal, ensure that the physical address details relating to the account are correct. The suburb will be used to determine if there is street delivery to the area where you reside. When the Dispute form is submitted online with regards to the renewal payment for a specific Post Box account, it is received and processed by the Customer Contact Centre. After an investigation, the outcome of the dispute will be communicated to you. If the account is found to be a free Post Box then the system will automatically renew the account. If the Post Box is not free, then you are required to pay for the renewal before the end of January 2006.

The South African Post Office specifies that renewal payment of all Private Bags is compulsory.

To qualify for a 40% discount on the total amount specified for the renewal of your Post Box account, the following must apply:
  • You must be a pensioner who is over 60 years of age - Your identification number will be required
  • You must earn less than R10 000 per annum - A valid pension card number will be required

To qualify for a 50% discount on the total amount specified for the renewal of your Post Box account, the following must apply:
  • You must be a pensioner who is over 60 years of age - Your identification number will be required
  • You must earn less than R10 000 per annum - A valid pension card number will be required
  • You must have a valid Postbank account with the South African Post Office - A valid Postbank account number will be required
